2012 Spring Teas Are Arriving!

We're Moving!

May 30th & 31st to:

2 Gleason Plaza
(Railroad Ave)
Northampton, MA 01060
413-584-5116

We’re just a quick walk from the Main /King / Pleasant Streets intersection in the heart of downtown Northampton.

Remember to walk or drive south instead of north at the main downtown intersection!

The business will now operate as Tea Trekker.

Tea Trekker will be conveniently located in the large brick building
that houses Don Gleason’s Campers‘ Supply, Deals & Steals and the District Attorney’s Office.  Our new storefront has a lovely patio in front and there is plenty of parking directly across in the city parking lot. And we’re right on the Northampton Bike Path!

In our new shop we will roll our clock back 30 years – and return to our original roots specializing in premium tea and teawares, fresh-roasted coffee, and some coffee apparatus.
All of our beloved specialty food items will no longer be stocked.
(This will take some time for all of us to get used to!)

Tea and coffee can still be ordered on this website;
tea can also be ordered on our www.teatrekker.com website.

Please visit us at our King Street location until the end of May
and then at our new location beginning in June

Happy Birthday to US!

Cooks Shop Here has turned 38 !

And we are giddy with delight.

Much has happened in the world of food these past 38 years. As a nation we have cooked and eaten our way into the present, learning much along the way. Those of us who are fascinated with food and cooking think differently now about food and food issues than when our business began in 1974.

Flavors are bolder, tastier, sophisticated and more well-defined. Bland is out and robust, pure flavors are in. Descriptors such as authentic and traditional have become buzzwords in the new food mantra, as have sustainable, organic, local and seasonal. Farmers and others who put food on our table are earning the respect they deserve, and food is considered on more levels than sheer sustenance.

Comfort food is back, re-tooled to emphasize better ingredients, better condiments and more careful cooking techniques. Food in America has been transformed via education, opportunity, curiosity and the desire to simply eat better food.

We are pleased to have had a role in educating our customers about foods, ingredients, cultures and cuisines. The 1980’s and 90’s were peak years for imports of specialty foods from Europe, and we reveled in introducing our customers to an amazing array of condiments, spices, confections and chocolates. For those of us in the specialty food business, it was an awesome time, and we are proud to have brought so many fine food products to the Pioneer Valley.

" A game changing book about tea. This is a book that every tea drinker should own, enthusiast or not, and in my opinion it is the most substantive book about tea to be written in English."
-Austin Hodge, Seven Cups Fine Tea
