La
Vera Pimenton is an exceptional product.
Cultivation of red peppers was introduced in the La
Vera region of Spain in the 16th century by monks in
the Yuste Monastery. The process of drying the
peppers is elaborate; a wood fire from holm oak
trees provide the right degree of heat necessary to
dry the peppers properly over the coarse of 10-15
days. Workers turn the peppers by hand over the fire
until the proper dryness is achieved. It's unique
characteristics have bestowed the smoked paprika
with the official protected designation of DO
(Denomination of Orgin) |
