Sourenee Tea Estate, in West Bengal, India has been in operation producing highest-quality Darjeeling tea for more than 100 years. Their current goal is to further their established reputation for manufacturing world-class, delicious tea by the addition of organic certification (since April 2009).

We found the flavor of this year’s 1st Flush Sourenee Darjeeling to be exquisite – fresh, simple, and smooth, without any harshness or tendency toward astringency (the hallmark of many 1st Flush Darjeelings).

If you are looking for a delicious 1st Flush Darjeeling that is not finicky to steep, smoothly flavorful and non-assertive, this is the one for you. We liked it so much that we purchased a sizeable lot of it, knowing how popular an organic 1st Flush Darjeeling from a famous garden will be.

We love the name Sourenee – a combination of the named, local hybrid (pron. ‘ser’) and the dialectic term for ‘queen of the valley’ (pron. 'renny’). Grown in the steeply-sloped and dramatically-scenic Mirik Valley region, this tea will transport you to the exotic Himalaya … right in your chair!

Use 2 teaspoons (2-3 grams) per 6 oz of water
Steep 1 infusion at 2 - 3 minutes.
Water temperature should be 185˚ - 195˚ F
