Nine Dragons Mao Feng
tea
grows on its namesake mountain range, part of the
Tibetan Plateau in northwest
Yunnan Province in
western China.
Nine Dragons Mao Feng tea is a very distinctive artisanal
tea. It has a bright clear flavor and smooth, long
finish
due to its late-season pluck. A combination of
deep green leaves and white buds twist throughout this
tea.
This is a mature tea with no astringency. One of our
all-time favorites, this is spring green tea at its
subtle finest.
On our trip to Western China in 2004, late one evening
in a hotel that was ‘less than glamorous’, we tasted
tea that had been brought to us for sampling by a
young, determined tea trader who had traveled half a
day by train to meet up with us. He had quite a few
excellent teas on offer, one of which was Nine Dragons Mao Feng
tea, and we are happy to have made his
acquaintance. After tasting many exquisite teas with
us, he disappeared into the night just as simply as he
had arrived, off to meet with his next clients the
following morning, after another six-to-eight hour
train ride!
Steep 2-3 infusions at 2 minutes
each.
Water temperature should be 170˚ - 180˚ F |
