Organic
Certification is contracted by paying an
international certifying agency’s fee to file
paperwork stating that the grower follows systems that
meet the regulations of that agency. As most
high-quality tea is grown by traditional methods, in
the mountains by small farmers; organic certification
may add value if it yields a higher return for tea
sold in certain consuming countries, for instance
Germany, England, Canada, and the U.S.
We
taste all our teas ‘blind’, and select those
that we purchase according to their individual flavor
profiles. If a tea meets our strict standards for
quality, is certified organic, and is offered at a
fair price, then we get very excited about presenting
that tea to you. We never purchase a low quality tea
just because it is organic, and we strive to offer
only traditionally-grown, sustainable tea, whether it
is certified or not.
