Our Earl
Grey is simply superb. We start by carefully-crafting
a blend of full-bodied black teas. Then we scent our
blended tea base with 100% natural Italian oil of
Bergamot to have just the right level of citrus-y
snap. We do this blending right here in our store and
schedule it weekly (at least) so that the Earl Grey
that you purchase is at its peak of flavor.
Our level of scenting is fairly high, but not
overpowering. We do not put any flowers or artificial
flavoring or filler into our Earl Grey.
Many cultures add lavender, rose, Lapsang Souchong or
other secondary flavors to their Earl Grey. We do not,
preferring to blend the classic Earl Grey for you.
We do offer culinary-grade lavender, organic Tibetan
rosebuds, Rose congou tea, chrysanthemum flowers, and
several types of Lapsang Souchong for those of you who
would like to perfect your own personal version of
Earl Grey.
The longer a flavored tea is
steeped the more the base tea's flavor will dominate
and the less the aromatic qualities of the flavoring will be evident.
Use 2 teaspoons (2-3 grams) per 6 oz of water
We recommend a 3-4 minute steeping for our Earl Grey;
infuse for a shorter time if you want more citrus, a longer time if you
want more depth of flavor.
Water temperature should be 190˚ - 200˚ F |
