This
impossibly flat teapot is spectacular in appearance and in
feel. It is a marvel of engineering that Jinshu managed to
build a clay sesame strainer into a space where little
space was available. The teapot has a confident, nicely
balanced feeling and is ultra smooth to the touch. The
small capacity of this teapots suggests that Jinshu had a
a very special purpose in mind for this stunning teapot,
perhaps as a special vessel just for obtaining a few sips
of sweet Gyokuro.
The teapot has a wide opening, and I was curious to see
how the vessel performed with large leaf Chinese teas. I
floated a few Fenghuang Dan Cong leaves in the teapot as
my friend in Taiwan in apt to do in a small teacup, and
was quite happy with the delicious results. In fact, I
have used this teapot to sample several new teas and for
me, it shines every time.
