This small teapot is warm and rustic in appearance, and
has been given a striking, natural shape by the artist.
Despite its diminutive size, and seeming simplicity of
design, the contoured shape of the teapot combined with
the upwards tilt of the spout imparts a confident
posturing. The spout and the handle have the appearance of
being stitched-on to the body of the pot, a clever way to
make us realize that these pieces have been ‘fused’ one to
the other. The natural ash glaze complements the slight
roughness of the clay, and the overall esthetic of the
teapot conveys the drama that occurs between the clay, the
kiln and the talent of the potter. This is truly a
treasure for an avid teapot collector or tea enthusiast.
